    Information about Cabinet

    Covid-19 and meetings

The Council will continue to hold meetings, but these will not be in person at Phoenix House until the Covid-19 crisis eases.  Instead, the meetings will be held remotely via Zoom and you will be able to join these meetings via the internet.   Please see the instructions on each agenda and read the Protocol on Remote Meetings before you join.

If you want to ask a question or speak, email your full name to Committee@middevon.gov.uk by no later than 4pm on the day before the meeting. This will ensure that your name is on the list to speak and will help us ensure that you are not missed – as you can imagine, it is easier to see and manage public speaking when everyone is physically present in the same room.  Notification in this way will ensure the meeting runs as smoothly as possible.

The Cabinet is responsible for most of the day to day decisions of the Council which are not delegated to officers. It is made up of the Leader of the Council and Cabinet Members (also known as lead councillors) who have responsibilities for various service areas. The current cabinet are as follows:

    Cllr R M Deed

    Leader

    Cllr R B Evans

Cabinet Member for Housing and Property Services  and Deputy Leader

    Cllr R Chesterton

Cabinet Member for Planning and Economic Regeneration

    Cllr D J Knowles

Cabinet Member for Community Well Being

    Cllr B A Moore

    Cabinet Member for Finance

    Cllr C R Slade

    Cabinet Member for the Environment

    Cllr Mrs N Woollatt

    Cllr Miss E Wainwright

Cabinet Member for Working Environment and Support Services

    Cabinet Member for Climate Change

The Cabinet develops policies and strategies for approval by Council, exercises overall control of resources within the Council's policies and budget and recommends the level of council tax to the Council. It also considers any matters specifically referred by the Scrutiny Committee. All "key decisions" to be discussed or made are published in the Cabinet's Forward Plan in so far as they can be anticipated.
