The Council shall establish a
Standards Committee to carry out its functions relating to ethical
matters under the Localism Act 2011.
Standards Committee: Specific
Functions
The Standards Committee will
have the following roles and functions:

Promoting and maintaining high standards of conduct
by Councillors and co-opted Members;
·
Assisting the Councillors and co-opted members to
observe the Member’s Code of Conduct;
·
Advising the Council on the adoption or revision of
the Members’ Code of Conduct;
·
Monitoring the operation of the Members’ Code
of Conduct;
·
Advising, training or arranging to train Councillors
and co-opted Members on matters relating to the Members’ Code
of Conduct;
·
Granting some dispensations to Councillors and
co-opted Members from requirements relating to interests set out in
the Members’ Code of Conduct;
·
Dealing with any reports from a case and any other
report from the Monitoring Officer on any matter;
·
Exercising of (a) to (g) above in relation to the
town and parish councils wholly or mainly in its area and the
members of those town and parish councils;
·
Overview of complaints handling and Ombudsman
investigations;
·
Overview of the Constitution.
·
Consider any recommendations put forward by the
Standards Sub-Committee in respect of any hearings.
